Discovery of a new species of Pit Viper in Khao Phra Thaew on October 5th 2009,
has given Phuket it's own snake:
The Phuket Pit Viper or Trimeresurus (Popeia) phuketensis
is known in Thai as Ngoo Khiew Hang Mai Phuket งูเขียวหางไหม้ภูเก็ต
