ศาลเจ้าจ้อสูก้ง (นาคา)
Like all Chinese Shrines in Phuket, Jor Soo Gong takes part in the annual Vegetarian Festival In the above photo the men prepare a large wok and gas tank ready for the Hot Water Bathing Ceremony that will take place during the festival.
The shrine dates back to 1904 when the Chinese immigrated to work as coolies in the tin mining trade. After the decline of the tin mining industry the shrine became neglected and in 1964 a donation of money and land was given to the shrine for renovation and extension.

The men relax outside the shrine to prepare for rituals that will follow in the evening.
During the annual Vegetarian Festival, like most shrines in Phuket, the road is closed on one side to enable vendors to set up stalls selling vegetarian food.
