Guan Yu Shrine (์Nabon) ศาลเจ้ากวนอู บ้านนาบอน July 2012 Update

Chinese Temples in Phuket
A year has passed by since my first visit and work has progressed to a reasonable extent, however work can only be carried out when there is enough money from donations to do so. Things are being done a little at a time, today work was being done on the courtyard in front of the shrine in preparation for laying concrete. Painting of the columns was under-way too.

Donations can be made at the shrine or to this bank account at Siam Commercial Bank in the name of Mr. Pradit Ongsantiphap (นายประดิษฐ์ องค์สันติภาพ) 897-2-10732-6 (

The roof details had progressed a lot since my last visit and are really quite beautiful. Some work still needs to be done as you can see from the photo at the top of this post.

The dragon columns at the entrance of the shrine are mostly finished with just some painting to be done, the same goes for the two beautiful windows. Here is a before and after photo of the dragon window detail.

While building work continues, the gods are waiting in the temporary shrine in the alms house, some of the newly arrived images have their faces covered (see photo below) to protect them until a ceremony is carried out and then they will eventually move to the newly built shrine.
