My favourite building in Kathu, originally the mansion of some Tin Mining Boss and more recently the home to the Chang Beer Company here in Phuket is going to become a part of a sports park, so I decided to get a few photos before everything changes forever. The project aims to be finished by the end of 2013 at a cost of over 11 million Thai Baht. Hope it turns out to be worth it!
The Mansion has stood derelict for as long as I can remember, just another sad story of lack of Government funding to restore Phuket's historical buildings. I have no idea of the official history of this place maybe because it stands outside of Phuket Town and doesn't get the interest that the Old Phuket Town gets. It is a splendid building that really deserves to be restored to it's former glory.
